About Sterling Gabbitas
Sterling Gabbitas is an institutional portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.
In this role, Mr. Gabbitas serves as a member of the investment management team, maintaining a deep knowledge of portfolio philosophy, process, and construction; assisting portfolio managers and their CIOs in ensuring portfolios are managed in accordance with client expectations; and contributing to investment thought leadership in support of the team. He is also a principal liaison for portfolio management to a broad range of current and prospective clients and internal partners, providing detailed portfolio reviews and serving as a key conduit of client objectives, requirements, and marketplace insight back to the investment team. Mr. Gabbitas’s focus is on Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) solutions for endowment, foundation, and health care organizations.
Prior to joining Fidelity in 2025, Mr. Gabbitas served as a principal and senior investment consultant at Mercer beginning in 2024 in the nonprofit and health care OCIO group. Prior to Mercer, Mr. Gabbitas worked for 15 years as an OCIO senior investment consultant and relationship executive within the institutional investor group at Vanguard. Mr. Gabbitas also served as an MBA summer associate at Vanguard in 2008.
Mr. Gabbitas earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Utah Valley University and a master of business administration degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. He also holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 6 and 63 licenses and is a CFA® charterholder and CAIA® charterholder.

The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is offered by the CFA Institute. To obtain the CFA charter, candidates must pass three exams demonstrating their competence, integrity, and extensive knowledge in accounting, ethical and professional standards, economics, portfolio management, and security analysis, and must also have at least 4,000 hours of qualifying work experience completed in a minimum of 36 months, among other requirements. CFA® is a trademark owned by CFA Institute.
Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) is offered by the Association of Chartered Alternative Analysts. Candidates are expected to understand the basic concepts of finance and quantitative analysis and need to pass two exams. One year of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree or four years of professional experience without a bachelor’s degree is required. Professional experience is defined as full-time employment in a professional capacity within the regulatory, banking, financial, or related fields.
