Investment Objective
Seeks the preservation of principal while earning a level of income that is consistent with principal preservation.
Strategy
The insurance wrapped separately-managed account may invest in actively-managed or index Fidelity mutual funds or individual securities. Fidelity has entered into contractual arrangements with third-party insurance providers on behalf of the CHET to help the Portfolio provide a steady, positive annual rate of return.
Risk
Performance of the CT Advisor 529 Stable Value Portfolio depends on the performance of the underlying Fidelity fund in which it invests and the insurance wrap contract risks. Bond funds entail interest rate risk (as interest rates rise bond prices usually fall), the risk of issuer default, issuer credit risk and inflation risk. Lower-quality bonds can be more volatile and have greater risk of default than higher-quality bonds. Foreign securities are subject to interest rate, currency exchange rate, economic, and political risks. Leverage can increase market exposure and magnify investment risk. Insurance wrap conracts may be subject to (i) default by the wrap contract issuer, (ii) costs incurred to buy the wrap contract, (iii) a terminated wrap contract may be replaced with a contract with less favorable terms or higher costs, (iv) poor market value performance of underlying securities may lead a wrap issuer to exercise its right to terminate the contract, and (v) a wrap contract could terminate resulting in a loss of book value coverage. Portfolio unit price and value will vary, and you may have a gain or loss when you redeem your units.
